Adolek and Marysia are Holocaust survivors. Their approach to life is a testament to the strength of the human spirit to survive and forgive. They are tenacious, joyous and loving. The series We Are Here celebrates their survival by documenting their legacy, a family of 14 Australian direct descendants.
The Kohn’s story reinforces the importance of immigration to the cultural and economic well being of Australia. Adolek, a knitwear manufacturer, was honoured by the Australian Wool Board for his contribution to the wool industry. Marysia attended Islamic Studies lectures at Melbourne University until the age of 90 to better understand the world in which we live. But that is another story.
